Bun In The Oven

Yep!  My SISTER has a bun in the oven!  If we're friends on facebook, you already know this!!  But she wanted the blogosphere to wait a bit!!!

I'm SOOOOO excited for her and Mac!  I'm super excited to become and Auntie (again).  I have 3 nieces and 1 nephew on Robert's side of the family, but I think this is a little different with it being my sister!!  And she lives just a few miles away from me so I can visit whenever I want.  Kidding Lacey...take a deep breath.  ;-)

She is due September 21 - which just so happens to be our wedding anniversary - Robert and I.

It would make the perfect anniversary gift!!

She IS going to find out April 21st and has come up with a SUPER cute, CREATIVE way to reveal the gender.  To my knowledge, it's never been done.  I can't wait to share it with you....you're going to love it!!!

So, the other day Lacey asked me what books she should read.  Other than the obvious "What to Expect When You're Expecting" what books would you recommend for her??  I'm kinda out of the loop on the newest baby books that are out.  Plus, the only one I really liked was "Babywise".

What would you tell her??

  1. Yay, I'm so excited for Lacey and Mac! So funny, I've been waiting for your announcement on this since I found out on the book a few weeks ago. Since I am childless - I have no advice, but I know they are going to make the best parents. (not to mention produce the most adorable offspring). Can't wait to hear how she is revealing the gender!

Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs is hilarious and the Girlfriends guide.

  4. Hmmm... I wouldnt read too too many books prior to baby's arrival because for me, it was so overwhelming. Plus, every baby is so different! But we really loved The Baby Sleep Solution. Kinda like Babywise but shorter book and less info so for me it was less overwhelming. Oh, and how about scripture! ha! The one you need the most! So excited for them! And it was so good to see a friendly face at the park a few weeks ago!!

  5. A just gave me a PRECIOUS weekly devotional for expectant moms. I have never seen anything like it. Each week it gives a prayer to pray over the baby based on what is going on with the baby's development that week. I LOVE it! It's called Expecting; Praying for Your Child's Development-Body and Soul by Marla Taviano.

  6. Tell her congrats for me!! We loved babywise. I think I read it twice prior to Will, once about 2 weeks after he was born, and again when he was about 8 weeks old. I have pulled it out again to read before this baby. I am such a believe that it works :)

  8. I read From the Hips last year and really enjoyed it. It's kind of like a What to expect when ... book, but condensed into the info you need. That being said, I've never been pregnant, so I don't know how useful it actually is, but my friend who was pregnant at the time started carrying the book to her doctor appointments the last few weeks and she was always referring to it, so maybe it is helpful for pregnant women, too.

  11. Those are the two that I would suggest too. I would also tell her to avoid reading too many books. That can freak a momma out!!! Congratulations!!!! My sis is pregnant with #2 and we just found out it's a boy this time. So excited!!! (And you're right, there's just something different when it's your own sister.)

  16. Hey! I didn't read too much when I was pregnant but have read LOTS now that I have Jackson. My new fave is "Shepherding a Child's Heart." Also, after I delivered, I read Kevin Leman's "First-Time Mom" and thought it was great, practical advice. Baby Boot Camp is a short 6-week devotional that's also perfect to read right after you have your baby. See you at her baby shower :) (which we're in the works of planning!)

  17. I agree with Cecile Gray, as I didn't read too much before hand, but after I delivered, my favorites have been Kevin Leman's "First-Time Mom" (great, practical advice), Baby Boot Camp (a 6-week devotional...short and amazing!), and "Shepherding a Child's Heart" by Tedd Tripp.

See you at Lacey's baby shower! :) (which we're in the works of planning)
