One On Three Time

One-on-one time is rare around here.  We try - but let's face it, it's tough.  It's usually comes down to one-on-two time, or one-on-three time.

Robert had a little one-on-three time the other day.  With a little hands on help from Landon, and a quite entertained twosome watching on.

I woke up from a nap to sawing in the driveway.  Lovely, I know.  So we decide to join Robert outside.

Landon is quite proficient with power tools.  Supervised of course.





He's going to be quite the little handy man one day!  (We're training him well...line your daughters up now!) ;-)










These two hung out in the new double stroller I got.  Off the side of the road!  Well, some people didn't want it anymore and were just going to throw it away!  So I whipped right in the driveway and asked them about it.  They said please take it!  I did.  It has some wear and tear but after blowing up the tires, it's perfect!

And now I can walk with all 4 children - with one other adult, like my sis or mom!  And it's a WORKOUT pushing 65-70 lbs up some of these hills around here!

And this is why having more than one child is easier than having one:






They got each others backs!!  Helping a brother out...so sweet.





Well, helping him until he starts to do it himself!  ;-)

Weekend Fun

This weekend we got to celebrate birthdays for a couple of pretty cool 2 year olds!  Along with some GREAT friends!

I took advantage of the great light and good subjects to play around with my new camera....my fingers aren't quite as fast yet, but getting better!!

Here's the whole clan...less a few...we were completely out number kids to adults.

I think all the adults took on "zones" and just turned on autopilot!

Now I have to include pic of my kiddos..... :-)  Little Miss Clingy this night....notice my toes....LOVE me some spa pedicures.  And especially the hubby that watched ALL the kids so I could sneak off alone!





Then there is the stud of them all.  I mean seriously y'all, he's gonna be a catch.  He will know girls like the back of his hand - with as much as he has to be around them!  And a gentleman he is!





Not to be outdone....Rhodes takes his place as Simba.  "Hakuna matata...what a wonderful phrase."

Did you know my kids still haven't seen The Lion King?  It's in the vault or something...so it's hard to find. 

And birthday girl #2 (we'll call her AB) LOVES Rhodes.  Like, loves.  This was probably the highlight of her night...to get her sweet little hands on baby Rhodes!





Here's birthday boy #1's little sis.....AR!  Love those big blue eyes!





Rhodes hung out.  As usual.  In this neat contraption hammock thingy.  It was comfy.






And since we've seemed to skip spring here where we live, the sprinklers and hoses were in full force - cooling everyone off from the hot temps!

Flashback Friday

Staggering

Sometimes, just sometimes, when I'm home alone and putting the kids to bed.....there's bound to be one that falls asleep before I can get to them.

I think this has been one of the hardest parts of having 4 children.  Learning to stagger.  Because obviously you can't simultaneously put 4 kids down.  (I know, rocket science).  And since there are 2 in each bedroom, staggering has been super helpful in order to have a peaceful bedtime routine.  Letting one settle down before we put the other one down has been the smartest thing we've started doing!

So how it usually goes down is Olivia is first to bed - since she has the longest day and doesn't get to rest.  She doesn't like it, but I know she's tired because she is usually the last to rise in the morning.

Then I put Rhodes down in Landon's room.  Let him settle in and find his perfect little curled up spot with his blanket in his crib - he sleeps in the cutest positions. 

Then it's Lillian and Landon's turn.  They usually get at least a rest time (Lillian still sleeps at least 2 hours a day if not more during the afternoon) during the day so they can stay up just a little longer.


The whole routine from dinner to bed takes close 2 hours - including bath, sips, teeth brushing, reading, prayers, bathroom breaks, etc.  Usually we can sneak a little "horsey" time in there too.  ;-)

All of this is followed by a pretty sleepy momma crawling in bed around 8:30 p.m.  I know, it's sad.  But sleep is precious and if I'm going to get any, it has to begin then!


So that's a little glimpse into our weeknight evenings!  Sounds fun, huh!
